Hello everyone, I am looking for any information about 1st Lt. Henry E. BURNESS, as well as photographs. He was a member of A company, 359th Infantry. (ASN : 01313199). He came from Middlesex County, MA. He was killed in action at Le Bourg Saint Léonard (Falaise Gap) on August 16th 1944. I am certain about these several information. But the militar reports I have differ over several things :
I have trouble determining what was his rank/role in A company : a report tells he was the Executive Officer while another tells he was a Class A Agent Officer. Does anyone have more details concerning this point ?
Furthermore, I don't know exactly where and when he was killed : near the Chambois road, during an American counterattack about 6.00 pm or near the crossroads east of the town, about mid-afternoon. I have more details about him and his death in the "Class A Agent" version, but I can't be sure. Your help would be appreciate ;) Tristan
PS : Note : Lt Burness is now burried at the American Cemetery of St. James (Normandy, France) [Plot D Row 8 Grave 14] - Lest We Forget |
